BTF attended “Second International Workshop on Thalassemia in Eastern India” |

The Second International Workshop on Thalassemia was held on 7-8 March 2009 at Kolkata in India. An eight member team of physicians and patient-parents from Bangladesh Thalassemia Foundation (BTF) attended the workshop.
There were 1 patient, 2 parent and 5 physicians among which 2 were from Dhaka Shishu Hospital. Prof Manzur Morshed, professor of clinical hematology at Bangabondhu Seikh Mujib Medical University was in the team. The team was lead by Dr. Md. Abdur Rahim, Secretary General of BTF.

Arora The conference was organized by The Hematology Foundation, Kolkata with support from Thalassemia International Federation. Dr. Sharmla Chandra was the Convenor of this two day Workshop. There were two international experts among the faculties namely Dr. Suthat Focharoen from Thiland and Dr. Ratna Chatterjee from UK. Dr. M.B. Agarwal, Dr. V.P. Chouhury and Dr. Nilam Marwah are to name few from the national faculties from all over India. Mrs. Shova Tuli, Vice President of TIF and Dr. J.S. Arora, General Secretary of Federation of Indian Thalassemics also took part in the workshop.

She gave advice for two of our patients who had problem with growth. In response to invitation by Dr. Rahim she expresses her interest to work in collaboration with BTF on endocrine problems of thalassemia in Bangladesh. |
